[ Wow, look at him go. Ren really seems to know his stuff, so Akechi simply steps back and lets him work. Then Ren flips a switch and... nothing.
Nothing at first, that is, but a few moments later there's a distant, heavy clunk, and nearby whine, and then a few nearby floodlights click on, illuminating the platfrom Ren stands on and highlighting a close-at-hand panel box. ]
Looks like you found something! Do you think it's stable enough for me to climb up as well?
[He has to raise his voice in order to be heard. Now that Ren can actually see better, there looks to be a release of some kind. He pulls a lever and a ladder drops from the scaffolding.]
[ Yikes, that's loud - but it doesn't look like it's going to draw unwanted attention or cause any unwanted collapses. Akechi hesitates for a moment, then steps towards the ladder. He gives it a shake, then tests his weight on it, and then scales it. A few moments later, he pulls himself onto the platform alongside Ren. ]
Thank you. Let's hope everything else holds up just as well.
[The catwalk did give a lot better access to the everything in the room. But now that they can both see, there's some kind of equipment lining the walls. Perhaps used for maintenance on the giant things still hanging around unused?]
[ Akechi's gaze also drifts to the equipment lining the walls, and now that he feels a little more in his element he doesn't hesitate to approach. It doesn't take him long to locate something that looks like a control panel, and even less time after that to dig out the little toolkit he was given before setting out. ]
Here. These are the sort of things we'll be on the lookout for.
[ He taps the panel, which consists of a powered-off screen with a keypad and several other buttons underneath it. ]
It would be best if we could get them on and use them to analyze these machines, but if that doesn't work then just harvesting them directly should be helpful.
[Trying to analyze anything would be difficult. Just trying to access someone else's scroll at home was difficult without a password. He supposes there are ways to force the answer, but that's a little beyond what they're trying to do. They don't want to break it. Just study it.
Wait...that gives him an idea. He starts peering around the area more.]
I feel like this is an area where a lot of maintenance would be done. If that's true, there'd be people who know how to fix things. And if they're people who know that, wouldn't there be manuals?

There! That should work.

[ But now it's time to get to work. ]
Have you found anything that stands out sofar?

You're right! If we can find one of those I bet it'll tell us everything we need to know.
