HEADCANON
I'll make this pretty later. tl;dr: shit I'm assuming for Akechi until canon contradicts me. Spoilers abound.
TIMELINE (Assuming P5 takes place in 2016)
- June 2nd, 1998: Akechi is born
- 2006: Mom commits suicide
- Late 2013/Early 2014: Akechi first accesses the Metaverse
- 8/21 2014: Wakaba Isshiki dies
- April 14th, 2016: Game Starts
- December 15th, 2016: Akechi dies
- His mom died when he was 8.
- He learned how to drive shadows berserk BEFORE he learned that killing them causes a mental shutdown
- Mental shutdowns were (usually) directly ordered by Shido, whereas the plans Akechi made himself tended to result in psychotic breakdowns. (Source: SIU director says that murdering Okumura seems 'too brutal' to have been Akechi's idea)
- Loki is his 'default' persona (i think this is canon actually), and part of the Fool Arcana. Data mining says he's part of Justice, but Loki was part of Fool in 3, 4, and Persona Q, plus Wild Card Persona users tend to have Fool for their default Persona.
- Akechi regrets what he did, but has yet to his a point where he actually feels bad about it; rather than feeling guilty, it's only sunk in how horribly, horribly incorrect his methods were and how much time and energy he's wasted pursuing a fruitless path. He will feel bad about all the murder one day but... not yet.
